Live Language is now a Cambridge Exam Test Centre, so you can take the exam here! Live Language provides preparation classes for the internationally recognised First Certificate in English (FCE) and Cambridge Advanced Exam (CAE). The exams are widely accepted across Europe and internationally as proof of your level of English and can help you gain employment. The courses are most suitable for students who need the strategies and techniques for the Cambridge exam but who also require additional practice with their General English skills. The courses use engaging materials and follow communicative methodologies to ensure you have the maximum amount of time to practise and improve your English language skills. These communicative FCE and CAE exam courses will focus on the five areas of the FCE or CAE exams. The classes are based on lively topics which engage students in real life situations while developing exam techniques. Each lesson will allow students to practise and improve their speaking, writing, reading and listening and develop grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The FCE and CAE exam classes follow a core textbook with supplementary materials to suit the needs of the group. Materials include laptops, DVDs, CDs, newspaper & magazine articles. Exam type tasks are given as homework and student progress is also monitored through class performance. You receive extended support and advice from tutors. The course These summer courses (CAE/FCE 15 and 25 hours) are ideal for those students visiting Glasgow for a short time but who wish to have a challenging learning experience while enjoying a holiday. The classes are suitable for those who are intending on sitting for the exam or people who require a more demanding course. The stimulating syllabus prepares you for all aspects of the exam while continuing to develop grammar and vocabulary skills. All classes allow you the maximum time to practise your English, meaning that you can maximise the benefit of the course while living in a native English-speaking environment. Testing and Assessment You will be continually assessed on your performance in the classroom you will have the chance to practise with exam papers each week. Homework is given on a daily basis. Our student house at Woodside has been completely upgraded to provide modern accommodation in a quiet location. The house is situated 18 minutes’ walk from the school and 25 minutes’ walk to the city centre, or less than 10 minutes by bus or subway train. The area has lots of shops and restaurants and is situated midway between the City Centre and Glasgow’s West End. It is close to Kelvingrove Park, and North Woodside Swimming Pool. The house is on the ground floor, with two single bedrooms, large living area, kitchen and laundry facilities. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom. There is also a small patio garden to enjoy the sun. The flat has been completely upgraded with new kitchen and bathrooms and every room has been redecorated. The accommodation is self-catering and students would be expected to keep the house clean. A deposit is payable at the time of booking.
