There are two elements which must be considered when planning to sit an English Language Exam. Students must raise their English level and develop Western test-taking skills if they want to achieve their highest potential score. Our IELTS preparation course is specifically designed to ensure that students improve their English and develop their IELTS test-taking skills. The course focuses on developing the strategies needed to confidently sit the test in all four language skill areas: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Test practice is scheduled weekly throughout the course. Enrolment for IELTS Preparation classes at Global English Centre starts every Monday and students may study for as many weeks as they like, however, please remember to allow several weeks if you need to complete the entire course. During the course students will improve the skills necessary for an IELTS examination and will become familiar with the exam format and will have the opportunity to do several practice tests. The IELTS Preparation course is for anyone planning to attend a Western University or planning to work in or immigrate to a western country. IELTS is the International English Language Testing System, administered by the British Council. It measures your ability to communicate in English across all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – and opens doors for people who wish to study or work where English is the language of communication. Candidates must decide to take the General IELTS for work or the Academic IELTS for further studies at university level. Those interested in Academic IELTS Preparation usually plan to undertake studies at higher institutions of learnng, academic training, gain work experience, or take General IELTS Preparation for immigration or work purposes. Course Features: 1. Detailed analysis of the test format and task types for Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking 2. Guided practice using IELTS question types for Listening and Reading 3. TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. If you haven’t completed your secondary or university studies in an English-speaking institution, you will probably have to take an English exam of some kind depending on the university you want to attend. TOEFL IBT stands for Internet-based Test. The IBT is the standard test used around the world now. The most important information needed when considering taking the TOEFL IBT test is: Does the Western university you want to attend require a TOEFL score? And if so, How high? Not all Western universities require TOEFL, some accept IELTS, nor do all have the same score requirements, each sets its own standards. Enrolment for TOEFL Preparation classes at Global English Centre is limited because only 1 class runs per term, with a maximum of 10 students. {starts every Monday and} students may study for as many weeks as they like, however, please remember to allow a number of weeks if you need to complete the entire course. During the course students will improve the skills necessary for to excel at the TOEFL IBT examination and will become familiar with the exam format and will have the opportunity to do several practice tests. Most students take the TOEFL IBT exam because they are applying for admission to universities in the United States or other English speaking countries especially for Masters programs. The universities use the TOEFL results to evaluate the Academic English proficiency of applicants. Course Features: 1. Detailed analysis of the test format and task types for Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking 2. Guided practice using TOEFL IBT question types using integrated Listening,Reading, Writing, and speaking format. 3. Exercises matching the requirements of the marking criteria for Speaking and Writing 4. Intensive study of key areas of vocabulary and grammar used by TOEFL IBT 5. Practice TOEFL IBT tests every week Student progress is assessed through weekly in-class TOEFL IBTtests in the core areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. Students receive a printout and test assessment shortly after completing the test each week so each knows exactly, the particular area they need to improve in. Final assessment is administered on-line at the TOEFL test center and results are mailed to the student within 20 days. The new score scale is as below: Section Score Scale Listening 0-30 Reading 0-30 Speaking 0-30 Writing 0-30 Total Score 0-120 Most universities which require TOEFL IBT scores expect an overall score of between 85 – 95.

Terms: Global English Centre

- Services must be paid in full 13 days before the course starts in order to complete the enrolment and secure a place in the course and/or accommodation.
- Bookings are not transferable.
- Bank charges are payable by students
- Students must be 13 years of age or over

Cancellation Policy

- The cancelation needs to be communicated in writing to the school by the person that booked the course.
- No course changes will be allowed to make up for refunds in the case of course cancellations.
- Where a cancellation is received 1 days after enrolment there will be no refund whatsoever.
- The deposit is non-refundable.
- Enrolment fees are non-refundable.
- The registration fee are non-refundable.
- Accommodation booking fee are non-refundable.
- There is no refund for any cancellation once the course has commenced.
- After a course has started there is no refund for any accommodation or other item booked.
- No tuition refunds are given for late arrivals, early departures or absences, for whatever reason, from classes during any course.

- If a course is cancelled more than 28 days before the start date, the following charges will apply:

- No refunds are given for Visa refusal whatsoever.


Other Terms

Cancellation and Refund Policy
• If you cancel your course LESS than 28 days before your course commencement date a cancellation fee of 25% of tuition fees will apply.
• No tuition fees will be refunded if you advise cancellation on or after your course commencement date.
• If you cancel your rental accommodation with Global English Centre less than 14 days prior to your arrival date, two weeks fees are to be paid.
• Study days lost due to late commencement on course are not recoverable. There are no refunds for public holiday or absences occurring during your course.
• Should the student cancel their enrolment, Global English Centre shall effect the necessary refund within 4 weeks. The refund will be paid directly to the person who entered into the contract with Global English Centre, unless the person gives written direction to pay another individual. The refund will be paid in the same currency in which the fees were paid unless this is impractical. Application for refunds must be received by Global English Centre in writing, addressed to the Director.
• In the unlikely event that Global English Centre is unable to deliver your course in full, you will be offered a credit of all the course money you have paid to date whereby the reminder of the course maybe completed at a later date. The credit will be applied to you within 2 weeks of the day on which your course ceased being provided. Alternatively, you may be offered enrolment in an alternative course by Global English Centre at no extra cost to you. You have the right to choose whether you would prefer a credit of the course fees, or to accept a place in another course. If you choose placement in another course, we will ask you to sign a document to indicate that you accept the placement. If Global English Centre is unable to provide a credit or place you in an alternative course, the Director will attempt to place you in a suitable alternative course or, if this is not possible, you will be eligible for a refund as calculated by the Director.
• No refund for school courses due to unexpected situations or natural disasters (eg. Fire, cyclone, flooding…etc). The school may decide to close for the safety of the students and staff.
• Unused fees cannot be transferred as credit to another student.
• This agreement does not remove the right to take further action under Malaysia’s consumer protection law.
• The registered provider’s dispute resolution process does not circumscribe the student’s right to pursue other legal remedies
